About the Author

Kevin D. McCann is a historian and author deeply rooted in the history and culture of West Tennessee. A Jackson, Tennessee, native, McCann has spent years weaving together stories of local figures, institutions, and sports that have shaped his home region. His works cover a wide spectrum, from Hurst’s Wurst: Colonel Fielding Hurst and the Sixth Tennessee Cavalry U.S.A., a detailed examination of a controversial Union cavalry commander, to Jackson & Madison County Milestones: Celebrating 200 Years of Achievement in Our Community, a collection

of stories about the people and events that shaped a community's history. He also authored The Jackson Generals: Minor League Baseball in Jackson, Tennessee, and the portrait of a baseball great, Ken Boyer: All-Star, MVP, Captain. His body of work reflects a commitment to preserving underappreciated stories — whether from Civil War skirmishes, minor league diamonds, or the wrestling ring.

BrayBree Books

BrayBree Books first began as BrayBree Publishing, a collaborative partnership with fellow author and cousin John D. Talbott in 2012. Besides their own works, Kevin and John edited and created books for other authors as well, 21 total over the next 11 years.

Kevin's dedication to assisting other writers in publishing their books came at the expense of his own personal writing pursuits. He rebranded as BrayBree Books in 2024 to focus on these projects.
